00:00

00:05
uncover the tactics and strategies top
00:07
entrepreneurs are using to make more
00:09
sales dominate their markets and how you
00:12
can get those same results here is your
00:14
host Dave Woodward lack of radio I
00:21
cannot tell you this is gonna be a cool
00:22
cool podcast because I don’t even know
00:24
this guy
00:25
this actually is so much fun Sean ogle
00:27
welcome Dave thanks for having me I’m
00:30
excited to be here
00:30
so Sean X was introduced to me by Garmin
00:33
we actually just talking about this this
00:35
you know garbetts been a great guy
00:36
because he’s lumen connected with
00:37
everybody but the funnest thing about it
00:39
is I love last bit of time people I
00:41
don’t know especially on online and
00:43
you’ve got such a killer killer cool
00:46
story that I think it’s gonna resonate
00:48
so much with everybody so real quick
00:50
background sparse so you guys understand
00:51
who Sean is where he’s coming from
00:52
Sean basically is the founder of
00:55
location rebel calm Sean Z one of those
00:57
guys you’re gonna love he has the
01:00
lifestyle that everyone dreams of it
01:01
talks about as far as this whole
01:02
internet marketing lifestyle of you know
01:05
living in Thailand and now actually
01:06
lives importantly but most importantly
01:08
spawners passion as far as golf which
01:09
we’re gonna get to in just a few minutes
01:10
here then has the opportunity no three
01:13
to four months out of here so with all
01:14
that said Sean we’re super excited to
01:16
have you on the call so tell people just
01:18
a little background again you know 60
01:20
seconds snapshot there and what you were
01:22
tell me is with regard to you
01:23
financially Anna’s story and how you got
01:25
involved in internet marketing yes so
01:27
basically I like grew up the most like
01:29
average upbringing ever you know
01:31
middle-class white dude
01:33
I always knew what was gonna happen I
01:35
knew from sixth grade where I was gonna
01:36
go to college six months before I
01:38
graduated I got a job in finance and I
01:41
ended up getting a job as a portfolio
01:42
analyst in July July of 2007 so most of
01:46
you probably remember peak of the market
01:47
July of 2007 by February 2009 everything
01:51
had crashed
01:51
everybody was miserable I was miserable
01:53
and so I ended up begging my boss to use
01:56
all of my vacation time for the year to
01:58
go down to Rio for Carnival and went
02:00
down there for two weeks with my best
02:03
friend and just had a bike we danced in
02:06
the carnival parade
02:07
we went hang gliding over Rio we went
02:09
down to a quasi falls and it was
02:11
that last day we’re sitting on
02:12
Copacabana beach we’re like you know
02:13
what we should be able to do this
02:15
whenever we want and the day I got back
02:18
I ended up getting a 20% pay cut because
02:20
the business wasn’t doing very well and
02:22
that led to a series of events where I
02:24
ended up leaving my job about six months
02:26
later moving to Thailand kind of
02:29
learning internet marketing and
02:30
continuing to grow the the blog that I
02:33
had started that was kind of you know my
02:36
quarter life crisis after I got back
02:37
from Brazil I started this blog called
02:38
location rebel just kind of trying to
02:41
figure my life out and seven years later
02:43
it’s turned into a business I love that
02:46
location rebel is that so many people
02:49
are struggling trying to it’s always so
02:52
much fun
02:52
I only because I actually love every day
02:54
of my life and what I do that it’s uh I
02:57
feel bad for those people who are stuck
02:58
you know in a cubicle trying to figure
03:00
out what they want to do next and our
03:01
tide lily shackle to a location so I
03:05
think a location rebel is such a cool
03:07
cool blog post is you know blog site as
03:10
well as more importantly I think the
03:12
part I really want to dive into right
03:13
now is how many of the people you’ve
03:15
been able to actually help really kind
03:18
of create that culture in that community
03:20
of location rebels who now are a little
03:22
bit doing what you’re doing so tell us
03:23
more about - how many members you got
03:25
where they’re at what they’re doing how
03:27
it all works
03:27
yes so people say like who’s your target
03:30
demographic or like what is your what is
03:32
your membership look like and I expected
03:34
when I started the site it to be people
03:36
just like me people that were in their
03:37
mid-20s unhappy with their job they
03:39
wanted to travel they wanted to do more
03:41
and what I found is it’s been absolutely
03:44
all over the place we have everything
03:45
from like the 18 year old who’s
03:47
graduating high school that wants to
03:49
travel doesn’t want to go to college but
03:50
wants to make some money - the 65 year
03:53
old woman in the UK who’s retired and
03:56
you know wants to make some money and
03:57
every everything in between so the goal
04:00
of the business is basically to teach
04:02
people how to build small businesses
04:03
that they can run from anywhere on earth
04:05
for some people that’s backpacking
04:07
around the world and for other people
04:08
that’s just being able to work from home
04:09
and spend more time with their family
04:11
and their kids and so the site
04:13
originally started it’s just a blog that
04:15
was called location 180 and then the
04:18
product in the community location rebel
04:20
came two years later and just uh just
04:22
last month we actually merged the tubes
04:23
now everything
04:24
location rebel we have somewhere in the
04:27
neighborhood of two thousand members
04:28
from over 40 different countries and
04:29
some of the the coolest testimonials in
04:32
case studies I could ever ask for you
04:34
know I think the part I love most about
04:36
what you’re doing Sean is you really
04:38
targeted demographic where you say
04:39
listen my goal is to help you get to
04:42
that three thousand to five thousand
04:44
dollars a month which you know it’s so
04:46
because I just I mean you get hit with
04:48
as much as I do as far as you know get
04:50
rich online type of stuff you know makes
04:52
yes figures all this kind of things work
04:53
I think it’s really cool you’ve said you
04:55
know what listen I’m not trying to get
04:56
you to six figures I’m trying to get you
04:58
to three to five thousand dollars a
05:00
month which for most people is gonna
05:02
take care of their bills where they
05:03
literally couldn’t go and do whatever
05:05
they wanted I thought that as we were
05:07
talking earlier you know what that is
05:08
just a brilliant way of knowing your
05:10
demographic and knowing it’s a very
05:13
realistic attainable goal for a person
05:15
versus listen you need to make seven
05:16
figures selling on Amazon by the end of
05:19
the year I mean you’re like really so I
05:21
told you grab congratulations on that
05:23
totally well you just kind of realize
05:25
that that three thousand dollar number
05:27
is kind of special because that gives
05:28
people options it’s like you said if
05:30
once they get to that point they can pay
05:31
their bills you know if they’ve got that
05:33
much coming in like they’re able to quit
05:35
their job and know that they’ve they’ve
05:37
got you know a little bit of stability
05:38
and support and you know in this world I
05:41
mean if you’re it all the time people
05:42
are like the whole like 4-hour workweek
05:44
like follow your passion build a
05:45
business around your passion the reality
05:47
is like I can give a crap about people’s
05:50
passion it’s like yes like I eventually
05:54
I can help you build a business like
05:56
I’ve got my golf business which is
05:57
something that I love doing location
05:58
rebels something I’m really passionate
05:59
about but first it’s about making the
06:02
money it’s about building that stability
06:03
that’s going to enable you to do the
06:06
things that you’re passionate about you
06:07
know I did freelance SEO for three years
06:09
was I super passionate about search
06:11
engine optimization not really was i
06:14
passionate about the fact it let me work
06:15
from home live in Thailand travel as
06:18
much as I wanted in golf three days a
06:19
week
06:20
absolutely so I try and take a little
06:22
bit of a different approach than most of
06:24
the marketing that you see out there no
06:26
I think that’s great so obviously this
06:28
is all about funnels and things of that
06:30
sort should kind of walk me through
06:32
house
06:33
get into your community but what’s the
06:35
is it start with landing pages as far as
06:38
it I mean do they where you advertising
06:41
on Facebook I mean tell me kind of
06:43
what’s how do you reach out to your
06:45
people and then as far as your funnel is
06:47
it more of a webinar funnel is it a free
06:49
plus shipping on what it’s kind of coded
06:51
ideas for what you got going so so the
06:53
site’s been around for over seven years
06:55
now I hardly do any advertising and
06:57
occasionally I’ll do some Facebook ads
06:58
if I’m running a webinar or whatever but
07:00
most of it comes from referral traffic
07:02
and search traffic
07:04
we’ve got like 600 blog posts and I rank
07:06
pretty well like I ranked number two for
07:07
the term niche site I ranked number
07:09
three for the term bucket list so you
07:12
know that sends a pretty considerable
07:13
amount of traffic each month and one of
07:16
the things that I do with my funnels
07:18
that are a little bit different from
07:19
some of the you know the more marketing
07:21
heavy funnels you’ll see is I try and be
07:24
a real person and I actually try and
07:25
engage as many people as possible with
07:28
real conversations so this was something
07:31
I learned from Derek Halpern of social
07:33
triggers like four or five years ago
07:34
where he’s like in your first email once
07:36
people sign up for your email list ask
07:38
them a question and so and actually try
07:41
and get them to respond so I would say
07:43
twenty to twenty-five percent of the
07:45
people that sign up for my list will
07:47
actually answer the questions that I
07:48
posed and those two questions are what
07:50
are you struggling with right now and
07:52
what is your perfect day look like
07:53
because when someone tells me those two
07:56
things I know what their problem is and
07:57
I know what in their mind what the
07:59
solution might look like so I can use
08:01
that in my products and my blog posts on
08:03
my marketing and everything and first
08:05
off most people are surprised when I say
08:07
hey I actually want you to respond to my
08:10
autoresponder series but they’re even
08:12
more surprised when they actually get a
08:14
thoughtful response back from me and I’m
08:18
not gonna lie like it takes a
08:19
considerable amount of time especially
08:20
as the business is grown and I’ve gotten
08:22
more and more emails and kind of at that
08:23
tipping point where things might need to
08:25
change a little bit but when I what I
08:28
found is that when people actually
08:29
respond and you engage them a little bit
08:31
of a conversation that level of trust is
08:33
built that friendship is built and they
08:35
just become much more likely to support
08:36
the things that you’re doing to buy your
08:38
products and not feel like they’re being
08:40
marketed to and screwed over in the
08:42
process Shawna
08:45
that if you don’t mind did you repeat
08:47
those two questions said no people are
08:48
gonna go trying to be rewinding this
08:49
trying to get it so what are the two
08:50
questions you asked yeah so the
08:52
questions I usually ask are what are you
08:54
struggling with and what is your perfect
08:57
day look like love that you know we’ve
09:00
spent a lot of time as far as trying to
09:02
help people understand the importance of
09:04
creating that attractive character and
09:06
you’ve done such a great job of it your
09:08
story is the attractive character you’re
09:10
out there leading people as far as you
09:12
know this is what my life is like as far
09:14
as talking about your golf and being
09:15
able to you know travel 3-4 months
09:17
pursuing you know youngest man to
09:19
basically have golfed on the you know
09:22
top hundred courses I and I think as
09:23
people find out about that thing they’re
09:25
able to connect with you but I love I so
09:28
funny I talk to so many people are like
09:30
oh yes online that the last thing I want
09:32
to do is ever talk to my customers I’m
09:34
like that’s like the most important
09:36
thing to do I mean seriously just always
09:38
cracks me up I’m like you don’t want to
09:40
talk to your customers why not they’re
09:42
gonna tell you every single thing they
09:43
need and want and your marketing will go
09:46
improve so much what you’re able to
09:48
communicate with them so I think it’s
09:49
it’s brilliant the way you’re doing this
09:51
I reminds me a lot of you know Ryan
09:53
lebecq’s asked method and it’s that
09:55
whole idea we’re seeing a lot more
09:56
surveys and questions being asked even
09:58
in on landing page but I think it’s
10:00
really cool that what you said there is
10:02
you’re actually doing this through your
10:04
autoresponder and a lot of people
10:05
engaged through an autoresponder so
10:07
that’s really cool yeah and obviously
10:08
you’ll get people that won’t reply ever
10:10
and you know will still buy your
10:12
products but when people take that step
10:14
and actually engage with you you know
10:16
that shows that they’re committed and
10:17
one of the things I’ve found is like you
10:19
know with what I’m offering in this type
10:21
of business and the whole kind of like
10:23
quit your job do the things that make
10:24
you happy
10:25
you find that I mean I’ve gotten tens of
10:28
thousands of emails from people and
10:30
people basically have the same problems
10:33
you know they’ve all got variations of
10:35
the same problems so I’ve been able to
10:36
really kind of hone in on what those are
10:38
and provide you know provide that for
10:40
them you know in a way where it feels
10:42
more like a friend helping you out as
10:44
opposed to you know someone marketing
10:46
you where people are just kind of always
10:47
like waiting for it’s like well what are
10:49
you gonna sell me like where’s the
10:50
upsell how much is this gonna cost and I
10:52
tell people say hey I’ve got products
10:54
you want to buy or I’ve got products for
10:55
sale but you know you don’t revive those
10:57
that’s great I’ve got plenty of
10:58
content over here for you as well oh
11:00
great so how long is your autoresponder
11:03
series right now it’s about eight emails
11:06
so I do five emails of information and
11:10
kind of walking people through my
11:12
three-step process for you know building
11:14
an online business and getting to that
11:16
first three thousand a month and then
11:18
another you know three email kind of
11:20
sales sequence and then from there they
11:24
basically have put on my newsletter list
11:25
where I send out usually two emails a
11:28
day or two emails a week and then you
11:31
know occasionally give them
11:32
opportunities we’re all I’ll send them
11:34
an email and say hey click here tell me
11:36
what you’re interested now that might
11:37
put them into a different funnel very
11:39
cool so are you I know as far as your
11:42
product is it a a monthly membership
11:45
isn’t a annual membership how does your
11:47
product Anthony work yeah so it’s a
11:50
generally speaking it’s a one-time fee
11:51
of 497 we have an entry-level version
11:54
that’s 297 and we have an option for
11:57
four payments of 149 I decided not to go
12:01
the monthly you know recurring strategy
12:04
with this particular business because
12:06
one of the biggest strengths is the
12:09
community so we have people that have
12:10
been in our community in their forums
12:11
for four five years out people that have
12:13
gone on to build six-figure businesses
12:15
and have you know these really
12:16
successful businesses those people a lot
12:18
of them feel like they they owe the
12:21
community you know they owe a lot to the
12:22
location rebel because that’s kind of
12:24
what helped them get their start so
12:25
those people have stuck around and
12:27
helped out all the the new guys that are
12:29
coming in and basically taking on
12:31
mentorship roles and if it was a
12:32
recurring business eventually they’re
12:34
gonna get to the point where they’re
12:35
like you know what I’ve graduated past
12:37
this I need something more advanced I’m
12:38
gonna stop paying but because it was one
12:41
time fee we’ve able to really keep the
12:42
the quality of our community high Joe
12:45
that’s brilliant
12:46
I love theirs because obviously the
12:48
hardest part for any of us is our own
12:50
time you can only be the you know the
12:53
frontman there for so long and then
12:54
eventually it’s it’s so much nicer one
12:56
you have someone else who kind of takes
12:58
over that role especially as they can
13:00
act and see themselves as a mentor that
13:01
satisfies a lot of their own
13:03
significance
13:04
ability to give back to a community so I
13:05
think that’s really a cool idea yeah
13:07
absolutely and over the last you know
13:09
year or so you know I mentioned before
13:11
the blog itself was location 180 and
13:14
that was at the domain sha noble comm
13:16
and with the merge into the whole brand
13:18
being under the name location rebel I’ve
13:20
really been trying to kind of say when
13:22
it started it was literally a matter of
13:23
me going through a quarter life crisis I
13:25
put my bucket list on my website to hold
13:27
myself accountable for all of these
13:28
things I wanted to do and it kind of
13:30
followed my journey from being clueless
13:32
working in a cubicle hating my life to
13:34
being able to travel being able to
13:36
support myself eventually be able to
13:37
thrive and now it’s it’s much less about
13:39
me and it’s about all of the other
13:41
people that are in the community and so
13:42
that’s what I’m trying to do a little
13:44
bit is just kind of highlight all of the
13:45
other cool stories that have been
13:47
happening because you know my story is
13:49
great but I have also you know one of
13:51
the things that made it so great is it
13:52
was so relatable you know you can go
13:54
back into my archives and May of 2009
13:56
and see those blog posts about how
13:58
miserable I was and now that I’ve kind
14:00
of gotten on the level and you know my
14:01
business is you know been a little bit
14:02
more successful I want to continue
14:04
showing those stories of people that are
14:06
in the trenches are going through it now
14:08
and are having success because those are
14:10
the people that someone who’s just
14:11
getting started are gonna relate to most
14:13
I love that that’s fantastic so as far
14:16
as purchase to your product is it just
14:18
all online is it a webinar
14:20
it’s just sales pages what’s how’s your
14:22
product actually can be it’s super
14:25
simple it’s basically you can go to
14:27
location rebel calm /join it’s one sales
14:30
page from there we’ve got your three
14:32
checkout options we actually just last
14:34
month when we rolled out the the new
14:37
site we included a marketplace so right
14:40
now I want to say we’ve got four
14:41
different products that are for sale on
14:43
there you know in 2012 I had had three
14:47
different products and I decided that
14:49
rather than kind of keep you know
14:51
rolling out you know a new information
14:53
product every six months every 12 months
14:55
I wanted to double down on the one thing
14:57
that was working and that was location
14:59
revel and so that became the two other
15:01
products I had I rolled them into
15:03
location rebel I really focused on that
15:06
for three or four years and it was the
15:07
best decision I could have made but now
15:09
we’re at the point where the brand is
15:10
bigger that you know that one size fits
15:13
all thing isn’t necessarily the right
15:15
approach it’s still gonna be the best
15:16
for most people but we wanted to
15:18
roll out a few other products that are a
15:21
little bit more specific in helping
15:22
people with their goals and right now
15:23
we’ve got short email you know series
15:26
you know three or four email sequences
15:27
but mostly it’s just you know a sales
15:30
page with a Buy button and you know as
15:32
you can imagine merging two websites you
15:36
know that we’re as big as this has been
15:37
a lot of work so we’re kind of taking it
15:39
one step at a time and we’re gonna start
15:40
building out a little bit more elaborate
15:42
funnels for each of those individual
15:43
products here over the next couple
15:44
months oh that’s awesome
15:46
so tell me as far as as your members and
15:49
things did do you end up going out
15:53
afterwards and then selling them
15:54
affiliate products or you keep it all
15:56
pretty much all within your own brand so
15:59
for the most part it’s all within my own
16:01
brand you know as I’m helping people
16:03
start these businesses obviously one of
16:04
the things they’re gonna do is start a
16:06
website so you know it’s like I helped
16:09
them walk them through step by step how
16:11
to do that so I make a fairly consider a
16:13
little Mount of like hosting affiliate
16:15
revenue WordPress theme and plug-in
16:18
revenue and things like that and then
16:21
usually you know once a quarter I’ll do
16:24
some sort of an affiliate partnership
16:26
for another information product that
16:27
might be complimentary but for the most
16:30
part I try and kind of just keep it on
16:31
my own my own brand I try not to bombard
16:33
people with a lot of upsells and a lot
16:36
of things you know we’re working on some
16:37
more advanced products but part of what
16:39
you know I get a lot of compliments on
16:41
is like hey I paid the $500 I came in
16:44
and I was able to focus solely on
16:46
building the business with the
16:47
information you gave me and not feeling
16:49
like I constantly had to buy more stuff
16:51
in order to you know kind of get the
16:55
information that I really needed and
16:56
frankly that’s one of the things that I
16:58
need to do a better job of is once
17:00
people are at that three to five
17:01
thousand dollars a month point I need to
17:04
provide them with better options to kind
17:06
of graduate move forward so if there’s
17:08
one you know things that I’m doing in my
17:10
business that I’d like to improve that’s
17:12
probably what it is well once we’ve
17:14
finished the podcast we’ll spend more
17:15
time talking about clickfunnels and how
17:17
you can do that for your users that
17:18
sounds good but so I think it’s really
17:22
cool though is you have the opportunity
17:24
of
17:24
building this type of a community
17:26
man-made bitches as far as I’ve secured
17:28
as far as on that community is this a
17:29
Facebook community is this all on
17:31
WordPress what’s where do the members
17:33
actually congregate and how do they
17:34
communicate yes so it was all on
17:36
WordPress up until February of this year
17:38
we moved off of WordPress and now we’re
17:41
on copy bloggers a Rainmaker platform so
17:44
it’s kind of all in one you know forum
17:46
affiliate stuff membership stuff all in
17:49
one platform so very cool so so as
17:54
you’re as you’ve had the opportunity
17:56
kind of expanding what are some of the
17:58
things that you’ve learned over the
17:58
years when it comes to to building out
18:01
and maintaining and really kind of
18:02
growing I mean we we talk a lot about
18:04
culture and you’ve done a great job of
18:07
that what are some things you think give
18:08
have helped you really create this type
18:10
of a culture that’s last as long as it
18:11
has you know I think that there’s kind
18:14
of something that I’ve tried to live by
18:16
that I think shows up on the site and
18:19
that’s when when you meet me in person I
18:22
hope that I’m exactly the same person is
18:24
you think I will be based on what you’ve
18:26
seen from me online and vice versa so if
18:29
you know if you meet me online and then
18:30
you meet me in person’s like oh yeah
18:32
that’s what I expected and I think that
18:34
kind of non-pretentious just average
18:37
dude mentality I think resonates with a
18:39
lot of people because a lot of marketers
18:41
you know they they tend to have a little
18:43
bit of an ego you know they like to you
18:46
know kind of be that guru and be that
18:49
expert and I try and position myself as
18:51
hey I tried some things in my own life
18:53
that worked out pretty well here’s what
18:55
I did maybe it’ll work for you and by
18:58
taking that approach in that culture and
19:00
you know not trying to go over the top
19:03
with my own ego I think that that is I
19:06
think that’s work to my advantage a
19:08
little bit I think that’s awesome I
19:10
think especially consider the
19:11
demographic you’re after and and the way
19:14
you’ve been able to have other people
19:15
step in I think that is just absolutely
19:17
brilliant for people to realize you know
19:19
what you can allow someone else you
19:21
don’t have to have all the limelight all
19:23
the time and by actually bringing other
19:25
people in it allows you to really grow
19:27
up a serious culture very very quickly
19:29
so I think that’s super super cool for
19:31
sure and it’s kind of the idea that I
19:33
mean the more people I help the more I’m
19:35
going to get things I want life so the
19:36
more people are
19:37
successful my community the more
19:38
successful my business is going to be in
19:41
the process yeah I think that’s awesome
19:43
we’ve seen the same type of thing inside
19:45
clickfunnels that as as we take it a
19:48
look at trying to grow different
19:49
businesses as you have testimonials and
19:52
cysts and success stories as you put
19:54
those people out as the face of your
19:56
company and things people gravitate to
19:58
them so much more than they do just to
19:59
you I think it’s I think it’s actually a
20:02
brilliant idea
20:02
congratulations on your success with
20:04
that No thank you and that’s that’s when
20:06
the kind of thing we do to big
20:07
promotions a year and I try and do
20:09
interview case studies with people and
20:10
it’s it’s amazing to see every time I
20:13
put those out it’s amazing to see the
20:14
reactions just because people are like
20:15
oh my god like I resonated with that
20:17
person so much and then all of those
20:21
people have said from those case study
20:22
interviews they’ve actually gotten like
20:23
freelance writing work and different
20:25
types of offers so it’s worked out well
20:27
for everybody I think that’s awesome I
20:29
said I just try to do the safe that
20:30
you’re on the podcast it’s interesting
20:31
though we’ll get doing that interview
20:32
with someone actually take me later
20:34
saying they got business out I’m gonna
20:35
leave up you know the more you give the
20:37
more you get it’s kind of how I look at
20:39
things I think that’s very cool so tell
20:41
me as far as as you take a look at at
20:44
your two promotions a year do you do
20:46
that through do you let your users
20:48
become affiliates for you do you pay
20:50
them off that or is it how do you run
20:52
your two promotions so I I don’t yet so
20:55
that’s something that I’ve we’ve talked
20:57
about doing but basically I don’t change
20:59
the price the price stays 497 I just
21:02
throw in a bunch of extra bonuses and
21:04
put a very strict timeline on it so each
21:06
of the promotions I do one in July for
21:08
our anniversary and I do one on New
21:11
Year’s Day and they’re both 48-hour
21:12
promotions the first 10 people get all
21:15
of the bonuses the first 25 get most of
21:18
them fifty hundred and so on and it’s
21:22
for 48 hours each and so basically I’ve
21:24
got a five email sequence that I doubt
21:27
and it ends up you know usually doing
21:30
doing very well and so it’s nothing
21:32
fancy it’s basically just kind of
21:34
finding those times and you know hitting
21:35
on the fact that you know there’s
21:37
probably a lot of things you’ve wanted
21:39
to do that you haven’t taken action on
21:41
well use this as an opportunity to start
21:43
you know making some moves so pretty
21:47
pretty simple
21:48
I love that so Sean’s basically an
21:50
urgency in scarcity play and I think the
21:52
cool part is the tiered type of bonuses
21:55
that is a very we’ve looked at trying to
21:58
do that that’s a that takes a lot of
22:00
work on your part but I think that’s
22:02
really cool to basically say you know
22:03
what the first ten people get this the
22:06
next bit do your next hundred I mean
22:07
that’s uh that’s actually really cool so
22:09
how do you actually manage that yeah it
22:11
really doesn’t take quite as much work
22:13
is you might expect usually the way it
22:16
works is I’ve got a few bonuses that are
22:18
for everybody so no matter when you buy
22:20
you’re gonna get bonuses obviously you
22:21
know you want to make it worthwhile for
22:22
everyone that joins regardless of when
22:24
that is so usually that’s access to a
22:26
few of my extra courses that they
22:29
wouldn’t have otherwise as well as you
22:32
know I do a monthly mastermind call so
22:35
basically it’s like the two guys that
22:37
are kind of in my personal mastermind it
22:38
will hop on it will talk to members that
22:40
join during that sale and answer any
22:43
other questions you know kind of stay on
22:45
for as long as they need to kind of help
22:46
them work through things you know the
22:48
first ten people they get one-on-one
22:50
calls with me and then usually mixed in
22:52
there is I go to some of my friends that
22:54
have other successful courses and kind
22:56
of say hey you know I’ll pay you you
22:58
know fifty percent of whatever the the
23:01
cost of your course is if you let me
23:03
give away twenty five or fifty copies of
23:05
it or whatever so I send a couple emails
23:08
and you know I have my community manager
23:10
kind of manage the backend of all of
23:12
that but for the most part it’s really
23:14
not that much work especially as we’ve
23:16
already built out the sales page that
23:17
we’ve used in a previous sales so it’s
23:20
just a matter of kind of switching out
23:21
what the bonuses are and just kind of
23:24
making sure that everything stays
23:24
up-to-date I think that’s awesome
23:27
awesome idea so tell me as far as a
23:30
value ladder and things you mentioned as
23:33
far as masterminding things is there
23:34
something after the five hundred can
23:36
they get higher access to you paying a
23:39
higher fee or how does that work not yet
23:41
that’s all part of the 2017 so for the
23:45
last year I’ve been so consumed with
23:47
getting these brands merged and now that
23:50
that’s just last month has happened kind
23:52
of like I was mentioning it’s basically
23:54
starting prioritize like alright now
23:55
let’s actually focus on the marketing
23:57
now that I don’t have to focus on all
23:59
the technical side of things for a while
24:00
so
24:02
so yeah all stuff that some works very
24:04
cool I know that is absolutely brutal we
24:06
have to do that this last year when we
24:07
kind of merged a lot of Russell’s comm
24:10
secrets into click files and all the
24:11
products and stuff it hit live it slows
24:14
down everything in business trying to
24:15
make sure that everything’s where it
24:17
needs to be and aligned right and setup
24:19
correctly so I oh my god I feel your
24:21
thing it’s always so much more work than
24:24
you expect it to be yes it is so with
24:30
your vacation rebel Jeep are your
24:32
location rebel do you have a lot of that
24:34
a lot of your business basically
24:36
outsourcing things do you have most of
24:38
your user they doing their own things
24:40
how does that work yeah so I would say
24:42
70% of the people that go through the
24:44
program they start with freelance
24:46
writing I treat freelance writing is
24:48
kind of a bridge business because you
24:51
know it’s an it’s the easiest way to
24:52
make money online there’s a huge demand
24:54
for it and it’s generally a skill that
24:55
people already have so I kind of say
24:58
that here’s your bridge from going from
25:00
you know your job that you don’t like to
25:02
running a successful e-commerce store or
25:04
a SAS business or a membership site or
25:06
whatever it’s going to be so that’s
25:08
generally where people start and some
25:10
people will choose you know other types
25:12
of freelancing maybe if they’ve got a
25:13
design background or development
25:14
background they might do something with
25:16
that like I said I did search engine
25:18
optimization so usually once people get
25:21
to that point where they’re they’ve got
25:22
a few clients they’re making making a
25:24
little bit of income that’s when they
25:25
start saying okay what do I really want
25:27
to be doing what’s the thing that
25:28
excites me and that’s when I start
25:30
telling people about you know products
25:32
like click funnels where it’s like hey
25:33
if you want to build a marketing funnel
25:34
and build your brand and teach people
25:36
how to do something then you know here’s
25:38
you know I’ve got the blueprints for
25:39
that inside location rebel so you know
25:41
one of the benefits of being around for
25:42
five years is we’ve got so much content
25:45
in there that goes from like the very
25:48
very beginning all the way up to you
25:49
know how to do more internet marketing
25:50
style things and build you know
25:52
e-commerce brands and things like that
25:53
so it’s it’s pretty all-encompassing up
25:56
to kind of like that intermediate level
25:58
and then once you get more advanced then
25:59
I recommend all the products from there
26:01
I think that’s cool so when you talk
26:03
about freelance writing what exactly do
26:05
you mean by freelance writing so where a
26:08
lot of people start with is SEO writing
26:10
so writing you know eight to ten dollar
26:13
articles 305
26:15
hundred words that people use for you
26:17
know the links for SEO and you know is
26:20
for as much as SEO has changed there’s
26:23
still a pretty high demand for that type
26:24
of work and so I would say for the first
26:26
month or two people start with that just
26:28
to get used to the idea of finding
26:30
clients working with clients writing on
26:32
a deadline going through that whole
26:35
process of actually getting paid and
26:37
invoicing people but what basically
26:39
people migrate into really quickly is
26:41
just content and blog posts and you know
26:43
blogs for businesses you know these days
26:46
there’s such a high demand for content
26:49
and getting content out quickly you know
26:51
as blogs have gone from posting you know
26:53
once a week to once a day or five times
26:57
there’s just always this big need for it
27:00
so we kind of show people you know how
27:02
to start finding work how to you know
27:03
cold call and pitch people properly and
27:06
then from there the people that really
27:08
want to get into it they’ll start
27:09
developing more of their copywriting
27:10
skills and start helping with you know
27:12
landing pages and sales pages and
27:14
tweaking you know businesses about pages
27:16
and and things like that so some people
27:19
literally just use it to start out and
27:21
start making that income and they jump
27:22
into the other stuff really quickly
27:23
whereas some people their full-time
27:25
business ends up being writing work and
27:27
then they end up hiring writers below
27:29
them and they just kind of manage the
27:31
process so we have one guy that joined a
27:33
few years ago that now has nearly a half
27:36
a million dollar you know writing
27:37
business and he’s got like his mom
27:39
working for him is you know brothers
27:40
working for him his friends working for
27:42
him and he just manages it all I think
27:44
that’s awesome
27:45
it’s always funny to me to see different
27:48
business owners and everything oh yeah
27:51
that was a long long time ago that
27:52
doesn’t apply anymore I’m like you know
27:54
what the core principles of marketing
27:55
they always apply and content is one of
27:58
those things that always always applies
28:00
to every single business and obviously
28:02
is becoming more and more of an
28:03
important issue to all these all the
28:05
time you know it’s always funny when you
28:07
hear people talk about SEO and all the
28:09
different Google slaps that happen
28:11
because people are trying to game the
28:12
whole system and the reality is if you
28:13
always put out good content you don’t
28:15
have to worry about that kind of stuff
28:16
so I think that’s really a cool idea
28:18
totally and you know it’s so many people
28:20
come in and they’ve got this they’ve
28:22
read the 4-hour workweek and they’re
28:23
like I’m gonna build this passive income
28:25
business and I’m gonna become an expert
28:27
at the late marketer and kind of what I
28:28
tell people is like hey like those
28:29
businesses are great but they’re not as
28:32
easy as everybody makes them seem you
28:34
have to still have the fundamental skill
28:36
set you have to understand the marketing
28:37
behind it in order to make them
28:38
successful so that’s why we walk them
28:40
through this three-step process where
28:41
it’s like hey we’re gonna teach you this
28:43
basic skills you need to be successful
28:45
online here’s the basics of SEO basics
28:47
of design copywriting WordPress you know
28:51
here’s how you start kind of freelancing
28:52
to build up that income and then once
28:54
you get to step 3 you’ve already you’ve
28:56
already got that background you’ve set
28:57
up a website you’ve started to think
28:59
about SEO you’ve maybe tweaked your
29:01
headlines in your blog post and are
29:03
learning the essentials of copywriting
29:04
so it’s really kind of preparing them
29:06
for that step while also building up
29:08
their their income and that confidence
29:10
in the process I love it well Sean I
29:13
greatly appreciate your time today I’d
29:15
go yeah you were kind enough to make
29:18
time for me today and I really do
29:19
appreciate that tell me as we get things
29:21
get close to wrapping things up here
29:23
what else would you like to make sure
29:24
everyone knows about you know basically
29:27
just if any of this is interesting
29:28
go check out location rebel calm you
29:31
know it’s one of those things we’ve got
29:32
a ton of free content in there that
29:33
helped get you started if you’re you’re
29:35

29:36
email Sean at location rebel I’m happy
29:38
to help in any way that I can and for
29:41
those of you that are interested in golf
29:42
which is probably a very small
29:44
percentage of you you’ve got a breaking
29:46
80 comm with Haiti spelt out and that’s
29:48
where I’m kind of documenting this
29:49
journey of trying to come the youngest
29:51
guy to play at the top one under courses
29:52
in the world breaking 80 dot-com I love
29:56
that so for those who are not golfers
29:58
that’s a handicap score we’re talking
30:00
about it correctly if I’m wrong on that
30:02
yeah so break it 80
30:04
basically trying to trying to shoot
30:06
under 80 which I’ve now done five times
30:09
I hadn’t done it when I started the site
30:10
I loved that much more of a bogey golfer
30:14
so you’re gonna find me into the
30:16
probably breaking a hundred right now is
30:18
nice long since I’ve been out playing as
30:21
much as I need to so I think that’s
30:22
