01:09

01:13
pros and the cons of this the pros is
01:15
this was really awesome and I was like
01:18
is getting good entrepreneur on mic hey
01:19
what’s the book nail up and scale it we
01:21
nailed it right Kay let’s scale this
01:23
thing and so then like I published and
01:26
then some of this stuff but we got
01:27
excited I was like well this worked here
01:28
we should hire more people and we
01:31
started growing this we went from this
01:33
little thing with five or six of us to
01:35
two years later we had about a hundred
01:36
people operation where this is the model
01:40
we were doing CDs calling them on the
01:42
phone
01:42
selling coaching having continuity and
01:44
it grew really really big and during the
01:46
time there were some really positive
01:47
things that came from it some negative
01:49
things some ups ups and downs and I’ll
01:51
share kind of a lot of those things one
01:55
cool thing is that while this was
01:56
happening and it was going really well
02:00
my name kind of got out there so I got a
02:02
chance to go speak a lot which was cool
02:03
and I’ve seen other people speaking from
02:05
stage this is where I told you guys a
02:06
story gone anyone’s gone through the
02:07
perfect webinar like I spent about two
02:09
and a half three years on the road going
02:11
to seminars
02:11
standing for much of this talking
02:13
trying to sell something and then
02:15
nothing happening it’s really horrible
02:17
feeling anyone ever done that before my
02:19
first presentation I was on stage light
02:21
has probably had 300 people in a room I
02:22
did a presentation I tried to like do
02:24
what speakers do and like close and then
02:26
hopefully every runs the back and like
02:28
nobody budged and then the guy forgot to
02:30
turn the music on it was just like
02:31
crickets and I was just like awkwardly
02:34
like walking off the stage I was locker
02:36
than running you know and then I
02:38
remember the first I was so embarrassed
02:39
because usually we have like those
02:42
events were all like multi-speaker
02:43
events and all the speakers are selling
02:44
everyone’s bragging about their numbers
02:45
and like and I knew that I don’t want
02:47
the nasan in my number so I totally
02:48
didn’t like not one person signed up so
02:50
I hid in my hotel room and I remember
02:53
ordering coconut shrimp and haagen-dazs
02:54
ice cream for every meal for the next
02:56
two days while I hid in the room eating
02:58
it watching movies coming I’m going to
02:59
act downstairs and I just it was really
03:02
bad and awesome at the same time because
03:03
coconut shrimp and haagen-dazs is
03:05
awesome but I did that and I learned
03:08
like how not to sell and then I started
03:11
learning from some amazing speakers and
03:13
people and I started learning the
03:14
process how it worked and all the stuff
03:15
we talked about the perfect webinar all
03:16
this stuff we talked about day one about
03:18
creating belief and breaking belief
03:19
pattern all those kind of things I
03:21
learned like on the road in front of
03:22
people on state like it was it was scary
03:24
but it’s such a good time for me to
03:25
learn and understand that part of the
03:27
process as we started to grow and make
03:30
sure I cover all the cool things we had
03:32
a bunch of different offers we came out
03:34
with one of the ones that was more
03:35
successful for us was um was a friend
03:39
and off like this called micro
03:40
continuity how many guys remember micro
03:42
continuity yeah that is awesome so this
03:45
is one we had probably how do you know
03:47
eight years ago now we put it on an mp3
03:48
player from Hong Kong it has like six
03:50
hours of this training and that was the
03:52
funnel we put through and we kept
03:53
creating new front and funnels to get
03:54
people into this this program it worked
03:56
awesome
03:56
and we grew the company from nothing to
03:58
three or four million dollars a year and
04:00
doing awesome and then at a time I
04:03
started looking at other people in my
04:04
industry this is hopefully will help one
04:07
of you guys is going to get a good idea
04:08
for this one but I had this funnel we
04:11
talked about the value-added right like
04:12
I had this really cool value out of
04:13
happening here and
04:15
and I was I was sending people up and I
04:17
realized that I was the only person in
04:19
the market that had a real value out of
04:20
everyone else is kind of doing stuff
04:21
down here and that was it and I was the
04:23
only person selling really expensive
04:24
stuff I started calling my friends I
04:26
call it like my Stillson Mikey
04:27
then like so all of our customers recall
04:29
them we sound like these $5,000 things
04:31
on lots of people buy that like you
04:33
should do that he’s like I don’t want to
04:34
call senator that I’m like well do you
04:35
want us to call your customers and sell
04:36
it he’s like yeah so we hooked up with
04:39
Michael we became Mike’s back in I call
04:41
it franker and same thing we came Frank
04:42
turns back in through the wall we start
04:44
calling up whole bunch of people then we
04:45
start becoming the back end so all these
04:47
people now had front-end funnels we
04:48
became the backend for a lot of them and
04:49
that’s how we took company from three or
04:51
four million dollars to ten million
04:52
dollars and it came really big and I was
04:56
going to say big and fun but week I
04:57
would say that at all it became really
04:59
big we had a hundred employees and we
05:02
had 60 people on phones and Vicky’s call
05:04
center we had 20 people doing coaching
05:06
for all the things we’re selling and
05:08
then we had about 20 people who were
05:09
driving leads and customers so by that
05:11
and it got really big and I don’t think
05:13
you guys noticed this but like I’m
05:15
really good at like selling and those
05:17
things grew that like the management of
05:18
stuff and I was not good at managing all
05:19
these people and it just it kind of
05:21
started just getting too big and this is
05:24
about the time that was telling you guys
05:25
50 brother comm seekers book that I I
05:27
started waking up and I was just like
05:29
god I did not like what I created I got
05:32
so excited that I started building this
05:33
thing and one day woke up and I was like
05:34
huh
05:35
I really want to do this I think half of
05:38
the conversations have inner circle
05:39
members when I first come in is this
05:40
like you really want to build that
05:42
business yes that would work but
05:44
sometimes it’s horrible when you get
05:45
there like thinking - like what do I
05:47
actually want to do what I really want
05:49
to become what who I want to be when I
05:50
grow up and and luckily ER during that
05:53
time it was probably one of those
05:56
painful times in my life but looking
05:58
back now is probably one of the most
05:59
important times in my life we had this
06:02
huge operation everything was working
06:04
and then one day was in January
06:06
literally 11:30 in the morning one of my
06:10
cell guys came in said hey I’m trying to
06:12
run a credit card but it’s not working
06:13
I’m not sure what’s wrong I’m like oh
06:15
that’s weird well you know try with the
06:17
other merchant accounts maybe that maybe
06:18
there’s something there and then some
06:19
elf came in hey all the continuity
06:21
orders are failing I’m not sure why and
06:23
then the three or four people kid me I’m
06:24
Mike what’s happening I walked in the
06:26
back end system and they not at 11:37 or
06:29
so my that every cell stop just stop no
06:31
sales I was like what is happening and
06:34
some kind of freaking out so I call our
06:35
merchant account company there’s a busy
06:36
signal or calling in busy calling and
06:38
busy and like I can’t get over anybody
06:40
else in
06:41
hearing from friends like do everything
06:42
I shut down like you sleep a process
06:45
like know like what what’s happening and
06:47
everyone started I don’t know I don’t
06:48
know and and sooner I found out that it
06:51
wasn’t me it was like and eventually
06:54
found it’s like three or four hundred
06:55
people at the same time all anybody who
06:57
was doing any kind of like continuity
06:59
based stuff the merchant count space
07:01
came in and said look we think that what
07:03
you’re doing might be illegal and so
07:05
we’re shutting all of you guys down and
07:06
your basic guilty till proven innocent I
07:09
was like what I’ve got a hundred people
07:13
are in feeding a hundred people on their
07:15
families like it turns into like
07:16
hundreds of people I was like you can’t
07:18
stop processing finally after like an
07:20
hour I get through somebody and this
07:21
lady on the phone says yep we shut you
07:23
down
07:23
good luck ever getting a merchant count
07:25
again I got to go woman hung up on me I
07:27
was like what you know the time I
07:30
thought I was I thought I had diversity
07:32
like I I had a we had nine merchant
07:33
accounts all through one company and so
07:35
I thought that meant but they were also
07:37
different the different merchants were
07:40
altered one bank and I found out that
07:42
the equipment having one which is why
07:44
I’m very big believer now having
07:46
multiple merchant accounts in multiple
07:47
different banks which is the lesson
07:48
hopefully for everybody on you don’t
07:50
know Alex Roy yet I know Alex is in here
07:52
but meet Alex and he’s the man to me he
07:54
hooked up with lots of merchant accounts
07:55
like he’s done that for us
07:56
yes he’s amazing but uh but it was bad
08:01
and so finally got to hold these guys
08:05
and I’m trying to figure some things out
08:07
and basically said okay we got to prove
08:09
that you are a good guy I was okay so we
08:11
went through took us two weeks them to
08:14
go through all our stuff look at our
08:15
documentation look all our stuff it’s
08:17
two weeks they came back so kay you’re
08:19
right
08:19
you’re doing everything clean
08:20
everything’s aboveboard will turn your
08:22
merchant counts back on and you’re good
08:24
to go I’m like sweet so we turn back on
08:26
and that time when there’s that kind of
08:28
instability excels guys are freaking out
08:30
they can’t handle any kind of
08:31
instability they’re leaving like crazy
08:32
people walked out the door and was like
08:33
and I was like freaking out and we then
08:35
we had all this payroll but no money
08:36
coming in and so Ike I’m paying it out
08:38
of my own pocket like everything just
08:39
like keep things afloat and as I’m going
08:42
through this process like it’s getting
08:43
scary or scary and finally taking things
08:45
Murph’s counts back on your you’re a
08:46
good guy Mike sweet so hey guys we got
08:48
to do a launch real quick make a bunch
08:49
of money so we do this put together this
08:51
huge launch thing we push it out to our
08:53
customer list
08:54
in a weekend we made $250,000 and I was
08:58
like thank you so great cuz I Monday we
09:01
should get the money we can pay payroll
09:02
I’m telling if I’m like just you know
09:03
tell your wives your kids will have
09:05
money soon like it’s coming I promise
09:06
like in the bank it’s going to be here
09:08
any day now and mines income money think
09:10
on Monday - income Tuesday then come
09:11
Wednesday and come by Thursday I might
09:13
call in more like like where’s our money
09:15
dude like we need this money and the guy
09:17
looks like an O a it’s definitely in
09:18
there I’m like hey when to come into our
09:20
bank he’s like well it’s not going to
09:21
come to your bank like why not he said
09:24
oh well you’re on a hundred percent
09:25
reserve so we keep a hundred spent your
09:26
money just like what like that’s not
09:31
good for me or for anybody how much does
09:34
it mean business I got people to pay
09:35
he’s like yeah well that’s just how it
09:36
works I think but the good news is that
09:38
it looks like you are legitimate company
09:40
know was charging back or refunding this
09:42
money we’ve collected so far so what
09:43
we’ll do is would drop you down or
09:44
temperature reserve Mike I think heavens
09:46
and they said but the 250,000 RG
09:48
collected last week we’re keeping that
09:49
for next six months just as collateral
09:51
make sure nothing bad happens like are
09:53
you kidding me like cool so I’m like
09:56
okay okay to the funnel quick so we’re
09:59
putting anything push it out there make
10:01
some money and we start you know paying
10:03
payroll for whatever we can but it’s
10:05
like everything’s collapsing around me
10:06
and so I start in January and that start
10:09
happening and same time we’re trying to
10:11
find other merchants counsel at our
10:12
banks and other banks are like oh yeah
10:13
we’re cool come in we’ll give you a
10:15
merchant account and then I cookie this
10:16
how it works like you make $100,000 a
10:18
month and make cool okay we’re going to
10:19
in like two days
10:20
so I need that for merchant accounts
10:22
because this is like we can make money
10:23
we just need to be able to like give it
10:25
to us after we make it and like oh yeah
10:27
we’re cold we’re good at that don’t
10:28
worry cool so again emergency can’t get
10:29
all set up drill a bunch of traffic and
10:31
twice we made over the hundred thousand
10:34
dollars a month we were we’re allowed
10:35
within like a day day and a half and
10:37
then they froze our accounts and they
10:39
said up you’ve made too much money too
10:41
fast we’re freezing your accounts we’ll
10:42
get this money back to you in six months
10:44
I’m like six months like please stop
10:47
terrific huh we end up like four or five
10:50
hundred thousand dollars lockup the
10:51
merchant accounts and it’s getting worse
10:53
and worse worse how this whole this
10:54
whole year was like like the hardest
10:56
year of my life and it just kept going
10:58
down and like every single day I’m like
11:00
laying off friends and family members
11:02
some people whose families I like people
11:04
I his love and I care about I’m coming
11:06
on Mike
11:07
I don’t do man I’m so sorry I gotta let
11:09
you go I’m just letting and there was
11:10
just such a dark time of my life I’m
11:12
just over a thing after thing after
11:14
thing and and I wish that I can stay
11:18
from there got better so that was the
11:20
entire year the next January started and
11:22
one of my friends was doin event in
11:24
Vegas and I was like go out there and
11:26
just whew whatever I kind of refigure
11:27
out my whole business completely
11:29
collapsed at the time we by the way we
11:31
were in this big huge office we had
11:33
rented and yeah that we were leasing and
11:35
he was like 20,000 square feet we had
11:37
all the call center and stuff and I went
11:39
to the landlord on Mikey mailing I can’t
11:41
I can’t afford to pay you anymore he’s
11:42
like okay well we got a 3-year contract
11:43
if you don’t pay me I’m gonna sue you
11:45
and you’re probably getting up in jail
11:46
like you kidding me do like I’m trying
11:49
like would not work with me at all I’d
11:51
always fear behind that so I’m in Vegas
11:53
the year later trying to ask friends
11:54
like what’s happening what are you guys
11:55
doing your business and their time tell
11:57
me their stories and it’s like ah this
11:58
is what to do and then that Matt I got
12:02
email on my phone for my dad and open
12:04
his email it was like a shot in the gut
12:07
like like probably the worst second of
12:11
my life as I read that and the email
12:14
said hey Russell I’m so sorry my dad was
12:16
helping the books of time but we had a
12:17
bookkeeper in the office they said um
12:19
and the bookkeeper I mean she was she
12:21
tried her best but she didn’t know um
12:23
she knew we were struggling and she
12:25
didn’t want to stress me out so she
12:26
didn’t tell me how much we were
12:27
struggling and it turns out what she’s
12:29
been doing is she had been paying the
12:31
bills she could and and the one she
12:32
couldn’t she was rying to like not pay
12:34
him and you know delay him and and to
12:36
hide it for my for my dad and from
12:38
everybody else she was she was saying in
12:39
QuickBooks they just paid bills but then
12:40
like not actually paying them so look
12:42
like it was cleared he’d gone through
12:44
and actually audit and found out that
12:46
she hadn’t paid payroll taxes in almost
12:48
a year and the email my dad said hey
12:50
just you know payroll taxes are like
12:52
something where they find you like if
12:53
you don’t pay payroll taxes you’re gonna
12:55
go to jail and it was over $150,000 you
12:58
on payroll taxes and I was like at the
13:01
end it had been entire year every penny
13:02
had ever earned was gone all my people
13:05
my teams like it just had all fallen
13:08
apart and I’m sitting there like I want
13:10
to do and so next morning gonna fly it
13:12
from Vegas back to boys your five active
13:14
boys I get two boys and I walk in and
13:16
the call center is empty all the guys
13:18
are gone and there are two people that
13:20
are left they said hey
13:20
you know the call center crossed the
13:22
road just recruited us and we all just
13:23
left and we’re out see ya and they
13:26
walked out
13:27
oh I would government a hundred fifty
13:30
thousand dollars I have nobody to help
13:32
me sell I guess I got a little to do and
13:35
I want to quit like so bad I want to
13:38
quit but if I quit I go to jail
13:41
I’d also sold a lot of coaching the
13:43
people I cared about if I quit always
13:44
feels about coaching from me like I
13:46
can’t help them
13:46
that’s not right that’s not the right
13:49
thing to do say I don’t see - I’m so
13:52
into bankruptcy lawyer Mike how does
13:53
this work man like Cain I got to do like
13:56
I got to figure this out and he’s like
13:57
well kind of explain the whole process
13:59
and I told not my leaf am I getting the
14:02
the landlord so they’re coming after me
14:04
like the government’s going to come
14:05
after me like I don’t know what to do
14:06
and he’s like well the best thing to do
14:09
is I should come with you to your
14:10
landlord just explained you’re going
14:11
bang Christie maybe they’ll be nice to
14:13
you so I’m like all right he’s like
14:14
Jimmy money like no he’s like what do
14:16
you got your pocket I was like I like a
14:18
hundred bucks he’s like cool give me
14:19
hundred bucks I’ll come and I’ll tell
14:21
the landlord you’re going bankrupt quick
14:22
all right man here you go so he comes
14:25
with me it was actually the best hundred
14:27
bucks I ever spent so he comes with me
14:28
to the landlord and he’s like Russell
14:30
screwed man he’s going through
14:31
bankruptcy he just hired me he’s like he
14:34
can’t pay you like you come after but he
14:35
is like and it guys it was like this old
14:38
man he’s like yeah he’s done like oh so
14:40
bad like so much money government’s
14:41
coming after my call you’re screwed
14:42
don’t even try it and basically
14:44
convinced our landlord that like who’s a
14:46
useless cause slamming was like all
14:48
right be out by Friday and we had big
14:50
space with office the cubicles and
14:52
phones all sorts of craziness right so I
14:54
okay we got by Friday but 91 my team was
14:57
gone this point for 100 poise down to
14:59
about seven or eight a few people that
15:01
stuck by me people like Brent Cole
15:03
Peters who like love that guy to death
15:06
yeah
15:12
bread and John and some people back then
15:14
on when Brent had taken a pay cut at 50%
15:17
pay cut and never amazing people
15:25
[Applause]
15:34
so the few of us were left we went and
15:37
we packing up stuff we put ads on
15:40
Craigslist coming by and things we’ve
15:43
spent hundreds of thousands of dollars
15:44
for we’re selling for hundreds of
15:45
dollars and just to get out of it we
15:47
made I know maybe five or six grand of
15:49
all of our crap getting rid of we had
15:51
huge dumpsters just throwing away
15:52
everything we ever created because way
15:54
to downsize and trying to figure out how
15:56
do we get into a smaller building and
15:59
how do we keep the people we have to
16:00
have to be able to fulfill in coaching
16:01
but we have to move we have to just cut
16:04
everything else that we have and so we
16:08
were downsizing everything going out and
16:10
the night we were moving it was like
16:12
that Friday which was bad at midnight or
16:14
whatever you know whatever it was I was
16:15
sitting in the office and the deaths
16:16
were gone everything was gone all I had
16:18
left was my laptop and I was sitting
16:20
there I remember I had my socks on had
16:22
some Levi’s I had no money and I was
16:24
like I have to make some money or else
16:26
oh we can’t even like move into it I
16:27
don’t know how to do anything and so I
16:28
sent an email to my list ahead of time
16:30
had a bunch of you register for webinar
16:32
and I was sitting there in a chair with
16:33
my laptop on my on my lap doing a
16:36
webinar praying that something would
16:37
happen and that webinar
16:40
saved us like that webinar we did made
16:43
$150,000 in sales or the next three or
16:45
four days from that webinar which gave
16:47
me the money I needed to pay everyone to
16:49
like not leave get a no office moved in
16:52
and give us like to stability so we
16:54
could actually breathe for a few minutes
16:55
and figure out Kate what’s the next step
16:57
I wouldn’t want to be when I grow up if
16:59
we downsize from 20,000 square feet to
17:02
like 2,000 square feet and and we had
17:04
this really cool moment where was like
17:06
what do we what do we want to do when we
17:07
grow up I would we want to be and as
17:11
painful as that process was like it was
17:13
one of the coolest things ever because
17:14
we didn’t have to keep going on this
17:16
path we could we could pick anything
17:17
this restaurant thing like who is our
17:19
dream customer Mike who do we really
17:20
want to survive what fires us up what
17:22
gets us excited and we started thinking
17:24
through that and during this process
17:27
like we started just creating again and
17:30
start having some fun right well what
17:31
should we do I had a friend of the time
17:32
who he had this little website making
17:34
him like two or three thousand dollars a
17:35
month and he got in some trouble and and
17:38
I had a couple things making little bit
17:39
money at a time and he’s like I need to
17:40
go to the site can he keep paying me
17:42
some money so I came $20,000 a game into
17:43
a website there’s a little machine that
17:45
use a pie gets for the cold sores and
17:47
auto pilot making two or three thousand
17:48
dollars a month I was like oh this is so
17:49
cool we have this little thing I’m like
17:51
little business kind of runs like what
17:53
if we had another one so we started
17:54
creating other ones we did one in the
17:56
couponing market we set it up we got a
17:57
guru in there in certain run now started
17:59
making money the right clear with no we
18:00
didn’t run the weight-loss another in a
18:02
year period of time we launched 12
18:03
different companies these were making
18:05
different amounts of money and during
18:06
that times when we launched neuro cell
18:08
our supplement companies all these
18:09
things were happening and it was
18:10
starting to get exciting again like we
18:12
were creating we were doing we’re like
18:13
doing the business and said teaching the
18:15
business again which was like so much
18:16
fun for us to do and to learn and see
18:19
like why does this stuff work in this
18:20
market but not this market one of things
18:22
that drive me crazy about teachers my
18:24
industry is that they come in and act
18:25
like the the marketing techniques to
18:28
work in one space work everywhere and I
18:30
learned during that two or three year
18:31
period time that’s not true like
18:32
everything’s different there’s
18:33
intricacies that are different in
18:34
couponing versus business versus weight
18:36
loss versus diet versus supplements like
18:38
there’s differences and and I came to
18:40
respect that because we had a chance to
18:41
do it so many different businesses and
18:43
so many different different things and
18:44
we spent the next two or three years
18:46
creating stuff and during that process
18:48
one of the really cool things is I used
18:50
to go to flippa.com all the time and try
18:52
to find my cool websites we could buy
18:53
and like turn to businesses and there’s
18:55
website called champion sound comm that
18:57
was for sale and it was this little like
18:59
email text message autoresponder for for
19:04
for bands I was like I’m going to buy
19:06
that and then we’re going to take it in
19:08
like niches for every market we’ll make
19:09
email autoresponders and text message
19:11
our responders for dentist for Cairo I
19:13
was so excited
19:14
it was 20 grand we didn’t have that much
19:15
money I was like this is the future of
19:17
our company we have to do it so we end
19:18
up buying this this website from these
19:20
guys I’ll flip but we get the website
19:22
and then trying to transfer it over to
19:23
our servers after we paid them the
19:25
$20,000 and as they’re trying to
19:27
transfer to Mike well you can’t have
19:28
this is the nerd talk you can’t have a
19:30
Linux server you need a Ruby server I’m
19:31
like what that mean they’re like it
19:33
means this is not coded in PHP is coded
19:36
in Ruby on Rails you have to have a
19:37
different kind of server I’m like what
19:39
does that mean means you have to go over
19:40
here and pay like 800 bucks months for a
19:41
new server I’m like you kidding me like
19:43
let me hear bucks a month per server but
19:46
we just bought this thing so we did they
19:47
installed it then they didn’t really
19:49
work I don’t know what to do and none of
19:51
my tech guys would ever use Ruby on
19:52
Rails and so like I went to oDesk to
19:54
hire some guys and they couldn’t fix it
19:55
and tried like five or six guys and fine
19:56
I was like wasted 20 grand I was like so
19:59
upset and so frustrated because like I
20:01
didn’t
20:01
have that money and and on the way out
20:04
the office one day I was like I wonder
20:06
what if anybody on my list knows Ruby on
20:08
Rails like shot in the dark I have no
20:11
idea so I send email to my little list
20:13
of the time I was like subject I was
20:14
like Ruby on Rails looking for a partner
20:17
if you know Ruby on Rails I’m looking
20:18
for a partner and I said basically the
20:19
story has told you guys bought the thing
20:21
can’t make it work if you know Ruby I
20:22
welcome my partner will make much money
20:24
this thing together sent the email out
20:25
have an hour later I get an email from
20:27
this guy in Georgia named Todd Dickerson
20:32
[Applause]
20:38
it Todd’s like hey man I know Ruby
20:41
like you do and I look at his picture I
20:43
was like you don’t look like a nerd I
20:45
don’t think you do and then I went to
20:48
like Facebook and I Facebook friends was
20:50
actually six years ago last week or
20:51
something a facebook friend I’m like is
20:53
that a beautiful wife he’s got a
20:54
daughter I’m like I don’t think he’s a
20:55
coder like I don’t know if I believe
20:56
that he’s like yeah man I should be the
20:58
log and I’ll fix it I was like whatever
21:00
I had like eight guys trying to fix it
21:01
the last like four or five months so we
21:02
can do it like whatever here’s the login
21:04
so he logs it in and then like an hour
21:06
later he’s like Kay done it’s fixed as I
21:08
was you think I got a fix I just did
21:10
blah blah blah at work Mikey - how did
21:12
you do that is I just loved Ruby on
21:14
Rails I’m amazing a to say that but he’s
21:15
super humble but I was like dude this
21:18
guy’s amazing and I was like okay well I
21:20
think these other things and so Todd
21:22
came and we start working another
21:24
project we ended up we had a different
21:26
auto webinar Todd built out the software
21:28
behind the scenes which is like
21:29
clickfunnels
21:29
version Ooi pre-everything and he built
21:32
this webinar our webinar software
21:33
because mike filsaime had been talking
21:35
about auto webinar Scheffer to put a
21:36
webinar report a couple guys who tried
21:38
talking to other webinars nobody had
21:39
done when like nobody was really doing
21:41
them so Todd custom built his whole
21:43
platforms we could do him launched an
21:45
auto webinar through that and in that in
21:47
that auto webinar we made a million
21:49
dollars in 90 days and the first thing I
21:51
did not I need yeah first hand if not
21:54
million dollars I took the money and we
21:56
paid off the IRS and I was like free oh
22:00
I’m free I’m not going to jail
22:03
hi Harris has paid off all the fines are
22:04
paid off and that auto webinar funnel
22:07
literally saved me literally gave me
22:08
freedom like up to that point every
22:10
night when I went to bed and I was just
22:11
like they could come knock on my door
22:13
like I have not paid payroll tax
22:15
that long and in that webinar Freitas
22:19
and in the Kepner thing after thing and
22:22
what was fun is with with Todd Dillon
22:25
used to design half these things just
22:26
says that contract you design these
22:27
pages then Todd were take him and code
22:29
him up make these funnels he did funnel
22:31
after fun after fun we probably had we
22:33
had fifteen different companies but then
22:34
those companies two or three files like
22:36
forty funnels would go over after thing
22:38
after thing after thing after thing in
22:39
the last tunnel we actually built the
22:41
old-school way was the the nerve cell
22:43
funnel that’s when the ones that blew up
22:44
really really biggest are making tons of
22:45
sales we have a bunch of fun with it and
22:47
about that time is when Todd was like
22:50
hey we should really create something so
22:51
I’m keep making websites for you every
22:53
single day and and that was where the
22:56
idea came for click funnels and so we
22:58
started that project in front of
23:00
whiteboard like we talked about
23:00
yesterday we mapped out this whole thing
23:02
and Todd once worked to build click
23:04
funnels then we partnered with Dylan to
23:06
build the editor and the UI and and then
23:10
fast forward seven eight months later we
23:12
came and we were like this thing is
23:13
going to change the world and I’m so
23:15
excited I was like we’re going to do a
23:16
free trial I think the very first month
23:19
our goal was get ten thousand members
23:20
the first month my colleague this is
23:22
going to gracing the world to put out
23:24
there okay the first funnel had all the
23:26
stuff in there was a free trial we had
23:28
bunch of people all wild lined up to
23:29
promote it we launched it it was like
23:33
crickets people came and they left I was
23:38
like does not understand what I’m giving
23:39
you like like I made that page you’re
23:41
looking at like it’s really good to
23:43
write like and like they nobody got it
23:45
and I said why don’t they get out Mike
23:47
there’s something wrong my messaging so
23:48
we changed the funnel again and we
23:49
launched again like like few of you guys
23:52
signed up but that was it like most of
23:53
like hit it and they laughed my Colin I
23:55
tried again we tried again we rebuild
23:57
that funnel not once or twice or three
23:59
times or four times or five times six
24:01
times it took us before click funnels
24:03
funnel worked and the six time was
24:05
because one of my friends Mike fils-aime
24:07
invited me out to his advance and he’s
24:08
like hey Russell why you come and sell
24:09
click funnels I think it’s awesome so I
24:11
dude Mike nobody’s buying click funnels
24:12
like we got to figure out a next deal to
24:14
figure out something cuz it’s not
24:15
working like no do my people meeting you
24:17
come speak on it the SL for a thousand
24:19
dollars
24:19
now it’s a free trial nobody even wants
24:22
it alright and so Mike’s defend was
24:25
happening that weekend I was literally
24:26
sitting in my office watching a
24:28
streaming
24:29
streaming as a seaman arm I started
24:30
writing my webinar and and I had my
24:33
slides open I was following the perfect
24:34
webinar script that I had been working
24:36
on for like ten years I started filling
24:38
in the blank started making this webinar
24:39
like like true to the perfect webinar
24:41
script I literally was like watching it
24:43
adding the things in while I’m watching
24:44
Mike’s have been happen that day I
24:45
finished the slides next morning I
24:47
jumped in a plane I flew there we got to
24:49
California he was California the dome
24:51
was out got there put the slides up on
24:54
thing on my okay here we go I started it
24:58
in the title slide was my weirdness
24:59
funnel it’s currently making seventeen
25:00
thousand nine hundred forty seven
25:01
dollars per day talking on a nerve cell
25:03
funnel and how you can actually knock it
25:04
off in less than ten minutes show the
25:06
first slide started going through and
25:08
when we got to the end we got to the
25:10
stack and the clothes we did it and
25:11
thirty percent of the room jumped up and
25:14
ran to the back jumping over the tables
25:16
fighting to get back there that’s like
25:19
we did it that was the message that was
25:21
the key now I know how to sell quick
25:23
funnels we took that message went back
25:26
and a lot of you guys know especially
25:28
inner circle members of certain webinars
25:29
every single day sometimes to day one
25:32
time I did three in a day which was
25:33
really hard over and over and over again
25:35
I did that webinar live over 70 times
25:37
over the next year and a half and went
25:38
from being a start-up with no members to
25:42
your after the end of last year over
25:44
10,000 members after this year we have
25:45
over 30,000 members in ski to grow and
25:47
grow and grow it was that one funnel
25:49
that changed everything for me
25:53
[Applause]
26:01
so this process for all of us you guys’s
26:05
isn’t up and down like it’s it’s always
26:07
happening and all of you guys are
26:09
somewhere in this wave right now right
26:10
some of you guys are at the top riding
26:12
it you guys are at the bottom in the
26:14
crash means are somewhere in between and
26:15
they’re always going up and down but if
26:17
nothing else this event like I wanted
26:19
you guys to all understand like no
26:21
matter where you are there’s hope okay
26:23
it might not be this funnel my I can’t
26:25
tell you how many funnels flopped at the
26:27
guarantee I have failed at more funnels
26:28
than anybody else in this room because
26:29
we tried over and over and over and over
26:32
again because of that we found out what
26:34
worked the only way to do that is do it
26:36
over and over and over again and it’s a
26:38
lot easier now I promise you so much
26:39
easier than what we used to do when poor
26:41
Todd and Dylan had a custom code every
26:43
single thing every single time now you
26:44
guys can test things really fast
26:46
first time I met Trey first college said
26:47
Russell I’m going to launch funnel a
26:49
week every single week and I wash the CD
26:51
launch the funnel and another funnel
26:52
another funnel another funnel and he had
26:54
some marginal success little success
26:55
more success more success more success
26:57
if I saw him launch a funnel last year
26:59
one funnel boom and within 90 days
27:02
became the biggest selling funnel in the
27:04
history of the world I was talking from
27:06
the guys at affiliates um they said
27:07
there’s never been a funnel that’s made
27:08
more money in a shorter period of time
27:09
than want to trade funnels I’m not privy
27:12
to share all his numbers in the stats
27:13
but it was insane it came from and doing
27:15
a funnel a day a funnel week funnel week
27:16
till he hits the one that just explodes
27:18
you know that’s going to be it’s
27:20
important that’s why this tool is so
27:22
important because you can do that you
27:23
can test you can try over and over and
27:24
over again one more marketing secret if
