00:00
welcome to funnel hacker radio podcast
00:03
where we go behind the scenes and
00:05
uncover the tactics and strategies top
00:07
entrepreneurs are using to make more
00:09
sales dominate their markets and how you
00:12
can get those same results here is your
00:14
host Dave Woodward hey everybody
00:18
Wow just had a crazy crazy couple of
00:20
weeks here a lot of travel and I want to
00:22
talk to you about something a couple
00:23
events and things I’ve been at and the
00:24
things that I’ve learned so first one I
00:26
want to talk to you guys about is Grant
00:28
Cardone ins 10x Russell’s done an
00:30
amazing podcast on this if you haven’t
00:32
listened to it go to marketing secrets
00:33
take a look at his podcast and
00:35
understand all the crazy cool things
00:38
that he ended up doing to basically sell
00:40
three over three million dollars in 90
00:43
minutes
00:43
that’s an episode I can’t trump at all
00:46
basically whatever Russell said on that
00:48
is by far the best way of saying it go
00:49
ahead and listen to that one for sure
00:51
what I want to talk to you guys about is
00:53
a little bit different and that was one
00:55
of the things that I was talking with
00:56
Russell about as we were sitting there
00:57
on the floor prior to his getting now
00:59
getting ready to go speak and that was
01:02
the earliest attendees paid the most and
01:05
what I mean by that is let me guys set
01:08
the stage here what happened was you’re
01:12
sitting there in Mandalay Bay’s boxing
01:14
arena a an arena that holds roughly when
01:17
the entire arena is open it holds just
01:19
on just over 10,000 seats but with the
01:21
stadium the way was set up with the
01:23
backdrop on the stage there was a seats
01:25
for about 9,000 people and of those
01:29
9,000 people there was about 1500 that
01:32
actually had seats on the floor so
01:35
you’ve seen this before and a ton of
01:37
other large venues where you’ve got
01:39
three different tiers of seating and
01:41
then you’ve got your floor seats well
01:43
the entire place where the boxing room
01:45
would would have been or where there was
01:47
a basketball court or anything else all
01:50
those were seats with one end basically
01:52
being the stage and this huge amazing
01:56
setup as far as monitors and screens and
01:58
everything else well the way it was
02:00
positioned is they had the stage there
02:02
in front and then the first five rows
02:05
were rows of tables and with chairs on
02:10
each of those tables and really set up
02:12
extremely
02:13
and those seats were $15,000 each and
02:18
then behind that was a section of seats
02:21
and those chairs for the next about Oh
02:25
probably 800 people were $10,000 and in
02:30
the last set of chairs on the very far
02:32
end but still on the floor were $5,000
02:35
and then if you were to take a look at
02:37
from the floor and then started going up
02:40
the price of the tickets like any other
02:42
venue basically got less and less
02:45
expensive the closer you got to the
02:46
ceiling
02:47
the fascinating thing for Russell and
02:49
eyes we’re sitting there on the floor
02:50
getting ready the very first day
02:53
what happens is you’ve got Grant who
02:55
comes down from the ceiling on basically
02:58
a lift that like literally drops him
03:00
down from the ceiling smoke is going
03:03
crazy
03:03
fireworks lasers everything music I mean
03:07
it was just this rock concert type of
03:09
event and he basically drops down from
03:12
the ceiling hits the stage and things
03:14
just go everyone just goes nuts well the
03:17
first day there was you looked around
03:19
and every single seat was packed the
03:22
music prior to grant coming was the
03:25
intensity and the tension it was from a
03:28
psychological standpoint it was amazing
03:31
the way it was set up to create an
03:32
uncomfortable setting so that people
03:35
were weren’t talking to people much all
03:37
you were just kind of listening as the
03:39
videos everything else was playing and
03:41
the seat you literally you could not get
03:43
another body in there it was that
03:45
jam-packed the crazy thing was the very
03:49
next day at the very same time when we
03:53
walked in because Russell was one of the
03:54
very he was the second speaker we walked
03:57
in and all of a sudden the only people
03:59
who were all the seats were filled were
04:02
all the people on the bottom floor those
04:03
people pay ten thousand fifteen thousand
04:05
or five thousand dollars those seats
04:07
every single one of those were filled
04:09
and then as you started going up the
04:12
from the floor up towards the ceiling
04:14
the seats at the top those were all the
04:17
empty ones and it was fascinating to me
04:19
because I was sitting there going you
04:21
know what that people are gonna get the
04:22
most out of this event are actually
04:24
those who people who paid the most to be
04:26
here
04:27
and it’s an epiphany I’ve had so many
04:29
different times throughout my life and
04:30
that is when you pay for things you
04:33
actually get more thick more out of it
04:36
and it’s been really kind of a funny
04:37
thing I’ve I’ve had this conversation
04:39
with a lot of people that is so often
04:41
people want everything for free and the
04:43
irony to me is those people who pay who
04:46
get things for free typically never do
04:48
anything with that content they never
04:49
use the content those people who pay for
04:51
it those the ones who actually spend the
04:53
time the effort the energy to actually
04:56
implement what they got if you take a
04:58
look at some of the things that you’ve
04:59
received for free you just don’t
05:01
appreciate it you don’t do much with it
05:02
so I was had this opportunity a few
05:06
years ago of spending a lot of time with
05:09
my boys at different different venues
05:11
and events one of those things I’m I’m
05:14
for me life is all about experiences I’m
05:17
not huge person as far as gifts I’m not
05:20
a person like I don’t really care sparse
05:21
even a lot of gifts but what matters to
05:23
me is the experience and so for me I’m
05:26
all about making sure my kids and my
05:28
wife and I have experiences because you
05:30
remember those types of things well
05:31
buddy of mine when we lived down in San
05:34
Diego err he had season tickets to the
05:37
Lakers game and so I took my oldest son
05:38
Chandler - we had some extra tea tickets
05:41
and so he went to the game well the
05:43
first time his seats were extremely I
05:45
mean we were four rows up from the floor
05:47
watching the Lakers game and she has
05:49
like oh my gosh dad these are this is
05:51
how you should see a game I’m like
05:52
Chandler these are a little more
05:54
expensive then those seats you see way
05:56
up there and the next time we went we
05:59
actually end up having box seats and
06:01
chanting oh my gosh actually bring food
06:03
right to you this is this is how you
06:05
should see a game and so was these great
06:07
experiences where I was teaching my son
06:08
as far as these are the types of things
06:10
this is why you work for so much things
06:12
so you can have these types of
06:13
experiences and share them with other
06:14
people later on he end up going to a
06:17
Lakers game with some of his buddies and
06:19
they get young kids basically ended up
06:23
getting the least expensive tickets they
06:26
could find way up in the rafters and
06:27
came home is like dad I could I actually
06:30
could see the game better at our TV at
06:32
home that I could see it in there he
06:34
goes it was a completely different
06:35
experience my only reason to tell you
06:37
that is as you take a look at things in
06:39
your life there’s certain thing
06:40
where I would encourage you guys to
06:42
spend more one of those places is you
06:45
need to make sure that you’re buying
06:46
product especially if you plan on
06:49
selling a product there is this my
06:52
personal feeling there is a law in the
06:54
universe that basically says you won’t
06:56
be able to sell anything that you
06:57
haven’t paid that same equivalent price
06:59
for a classic example this was Tara
07:01
justice and Williams they ended up
07:03
coming to the funnel hacking live our
07:05
very first one we had in Las Vegas and
07:07
while they were there they basically
07:09
told themselves listen we’re gonna leave
07:11
our wallets in our purse
07:13
we’re leave them in a room because we
07:14
don’t want Russell taking any of our
07:16
money so sure enough they left it there
07:18
they came down and before the break at
07:21
lunch they had already gone back to the
07:23
rooms got their wallets and they had
07:25
been invested $25,000 into Russell’s
07:29
highest inner circle mastermind coach
07:31
coaching meeting and it was fascinating
07:33
to me because I remember meeting them at
07:34
the inner circle later and hearing their
07:37
story said you know the crazy thing was
07:39
we never ever thought anyone would ever
07:41
pay $25,000 for coaching and I was
07:44
Justin said I could never charge that
07:46
kind of money until I actually had paid
07:49
for and invested out he says as soon as
07:51
I invest it and then Russell told me
07:52
during one of his coaching calls that I
07:55
should charge $25,000 for a real estate
07:58
coaching program I told Russell I said
08:00
there’s no way in the world anyone’s
08:02
gonna pay for that and he goes well
08:04
Justin you just paid me 25k for
08:06
inner-circle literally within about a
08:08
week he ended up doing a webinar and
08:11
ended up signing up eight people at
08:13
twenty five thousand dollars just
08:14
because he had paid for himself so right
08:17
now if there’s a situation where you’re
08:19
trying to sell a certain price point and
08:21
you’re struggling I can tell you
08:23
probably what’s happening you’ve never
08:24
paid that price point for that goes back
08:28
to the same thing
08:29
we ended up gosh now it’s been two years
08:32
ago Russell I worked down at me with
08:35
Dean Graciosa at a time when Dean Joe
08:37
were thinking about starting this 100k
08:39
group and living without even finding
08:42
out what the what was gonna be in the
08:45
course or anything else Russell they
08:47
said well Dean if you’re gonna be doing
08:49
I’ll I’ll be your first person to sign
08:50
up and Dean’s like really yeah that
08:52
sounds great so
08:54
that was the day before genius Network
08:56
where we were then meeting with Joe and
08:57
Joe ends up pitching for the first time
08:59
100k group 200k group twos 25k group
09:03
we’re sitting there a genius Network in
09:04
his office where there’s you know 60
09:06
people I said yeah and by the way
09:07
Russell’s Brunson’s already signed up
09:09
he’s already paid the honor game the
09:10
whole reason Russell ended up spending a
09:13
hundred thousand dollars to get involved
09:14
in him Joe and Dean’s hunter K group is
09:18
because he knew the time would
09:20
eventually come where he will then
09:21
charge $100,000 for a mastermind or
09:24
inner circle but he could never actually
09:26
charge it if he hadn’t paid it for it
09:28
himself
09:28
the irony behind all of it is in the
09:31
last two years Russell’s been to that
09:32
one time and I’ve gone the other time so
09:34
we’ve been to this under K group twice
09:36
and so basically we spend 150 thousand
09:39
dollars to go to those events but
09:41
realize the key here is you’ve got to be
09:43
willing to invest if you’re not willing
09:45
to invest you’re not gonna get anything
09:47
else out of it it’s been really funny
09:49
for me as I’ve been looking at seeing
09:51
some of these Facebook threads how
09:52
people come to follow back in live and
09:53
I’ve just I’m laughing because they’re
09:55
going man make sure you leave your what
09:58
are you can do to make sure you don’t
09:58
buy anything there and I’m like you’re
10:00
going to an event and you’re not gonna
10:02
buy I was I just I was like really why
10:06
would you do that you’re you’ve already
10:07
spent you’ve already invested whatever
10:09
the ticket price was plus the travel
10:10
plus everything else to go to the event
10:12
and you’re already telling yourself
10:14
you’re not gonna invest further in your
10:16
education I can tell you there is no
10:17
better return on your investment on any
10:19
investment you can make anywhere in the
10:22
world including Bitcoin more so than an
10:25
investment in your own self and so it’s
10:27
been funny as I’ve been sitting there
10:28
watching it you know I’ve seen some
10:29
people go well make sure you lock your
10:31
wallet and your and your person or your
10:33
purse up in your room or you know what
10:34
that’s not gonna be good enough you can
10:36
actually have to duct tape it together
10:37
so you can’t even open it and another
10:39
person said no actually I’m what I’d
10:40
recommend is that you actually FedEx
10:42
your wallet home to your mom and then
10:44
have her FedEx it back the day before
10:46
you fly out so you can have your ID I’m
10:47
like okay this just cracks me up where
10:49
you’re gonna be
10:50
it’s just that mentality and sure some
10:52
of it may have been in jest but I know
10:54
other people are so afraid to invest in
10:56
themselves I’m like you guys do not
10:57
understand the value that’s there I
10:59
remember it’s it’s been such a fun thing
11:02
for me to see when we’re at Grant
11:05
cardones event because literally the
11:07
very first thing he
11:08
telling people from stage after he came
11:10
down out of the sky out of the ceiling
11:11
their land on the stage starts talking
11:13
everybody was I hope all of you guys
11:15
came here with the intent of investing
11:17
in yourself and spending some money on
11:19
some of the speakers products literally
11:21
within the first five or ten minutes
11:22
that was his pitch and realized the
11:25
whole idea behind this is you’ve got to
11:27
be willing to invest that kind of time
11:28
and money into it it’s also one of the
11:31
things I was we spent a whole bunch of
11:35
time and money as you’re gonna see here
11:37
at photo hacking live investing in
11:39
awards I have these two comic club
11:41
plaques that we’ve now sent out over two
11:42
hundred fifty six of them they each cost
11:45
is about 250 to 300 bucks for each of
11:47
every single one that we send out and
11:49
for us do we get anything out of it
11:52
personally no but what happens is as you
11:55
invest in those people who you’re
11:57
willing to serve it comes back we have
11:59
seen more people use those two comical
12:02
plaques in their own marketing
12:04
promotions in their facebook ads in all
12:06
these different types of things and we
12:07
see it out there and all of a sudden
12:08
people start asking about it you’re
12:10
gonna see a new more rolled out of
12:11
funnel hacking live which is our eight
12:13
figure Award for those people done over
12:14
ten million and I remember when I was
12:16
creating this I was talking to people
12:17
the offices are like Dave that is huge
12:19
you can’t go that big I’m like you know
12:21
what it’s ten million dollars and so
12:24
we’re sitting there so it’s about one
12:25
and a half times the size of our to
12:27
comma Club plaque and then in addition
12:29
to that we thought well what else could
12:31
we really do and so each of those
12:33
plaques they cost about 500 bucks but
12:35
the real thing was I thought you know if
12:37
a person has invested has worked that
12:40
hard in their business and they’ve now
12:42
hit the ten million dollar range so
12:46
basically you get a gold plaque for
12:48
hitting a million dollars at a to comma
12:49
a platinum plaque is what they get when
12:52
they hit ten million I thought what else
12:53
would be really cool to add to that well
12:56
it happened to be right during the
12:57
Superbowl I thought you know what
12:59
these guys all fight like crazy and they
13:01
invest their entire life for a ring I
13:04
thought what have we end up getting
13:06
people championship rings so fortunately
13:09
uh fortunately the rich the partners
13:13
were all in on this and so we’re
13:15
spending literally over a hundred
13:16
thousand dollars in gold and silver I’m
13:20
sorry in white gold and diamonds
13:22
anything else for these crazy rings that
13:24
right now at this point I’ve ordered 15
13:26
rings and we now have two more people
13:29
who qualify so I forget those as well
13:31
but realize my only reason and telling
13:33
you that is as we invest back into so
13:36
the one thing is to invest for yourself
13:38
because that by investing yourself
13:40
you’re going to find that you actually
13:41
get more out of it the other thing is as
13:44
you invest back into those people who
13:45
are your customers and your clients you
13:48
will find that always comes back to you
13:49
as well so I’d encourage you to kind of
13:51
take a look at both both places I one of
13:54
the dinners I had a TNC was with a dear
13:56
friend of mine Dan Martell great guys
13:58
been in the SAS industry for years super
14:01
super smart guy ended up building a
14:04
company called clarity FM which he sold
14:06
to Mark Cuban for a huge huge exit on
14:08
the back end and made him a Multi multi
14:10
multimillionaire
14:11
but one of things Dan was talking about
14:13
was these crazy awards and things that
14:16
we’ve been doing since that is the sign
14:18
of a unicorn Dave I’m like what he goes
14:20
yeah you’ve heard this whole idea as far
14:21
as this unicorn SAS company and and how
14:24
they are actually able to create and
14:26
provide this kind of value since it’s
14:27
these weird crazy things that by doing
14:30
it provides so much value in the
14:31
industry that it changes the entire
14:33
industry and we’re starting to see that
14:34
already I’m starting to have people have
14:36
received our two comical plaques now
14:38
creating a comma Club or those types of
14:40
awards for their people as well so just
14:42
realize first and foremost you have to
14:45
be willing to invest in yourself there’s
14:46
no greater ROI out there second of all
14:48
those people basically spend the most
14:50
get the most and the last thing I tell
14:52
you is man make sure that you’re
14:54
investing back into the people who serve
14:56
who you’re serving and who trust you and
14:58
everything else and you’ll see that
15:00
blessed is their lives as well as yours
15:02
so have an amazing night and we’ll talk
15:04
to you soon
15:04
you know one of the things that means a
15:06
ton to me is the personal reviews that
15:08
you guys leave on iTunes you wouldn’t
15:10
mind going out rate this show let me
15:12
know how I’m doing
15:13
just go to iTunes click on the episode
15:15
and rate it leave a comment I read all
15:17
the comments I’ve appreciate all the
15:18
stars and everything everyone already
15:20
left for me again I really appreciate it
15:22
and it’s my way of finding out how I’m
15:24
doing so if you don’t mind I’d really
15:25
appreciate it and I again thank you so
15:28
much for all that you guys do have a
15:29
